Birchbox March 2012 - Teen Vogue Box

A few days ago I received my March Birchbox. I blogged a while back about getting an e-mail from Birchbox asking me if I would like to opt in for a special box from Teen Vogue. The box has some pretty great products in it, but two of the items on my card were not in my box (this is explained below). I have e-mailed Birchbox and hopefully they can send me the items.

This is what was on my card:
Here's what my card had listed on it:
1. Annick Goutal - Petite Cherie: A blend of fresh fruity notes and musk, this French fragrance is the definition of understated chic.
2. essie - luxeffects: Layer this glittery top coat onto any polish for an eye-catching look. (My color is a cut above - a girly pink glitter).
3. Peter Thomas Roth - Max Anti-Shing Mattifying Gel: This gel primer absorbs oil and sweat, ensuring that your makeup stays pristine for hours on end. (I did not receive this item. Instead I was given the Kerastase Elixir Ultime).
4. tarte - LipSurgence lip ting: This long-lasting stain adds rich pigment and is designed to boost the moisture levels in your lips. (Sadly, I did not get this either! I was really looking forward to this item. I was given Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment instead).
5. twistband - Hair Tie: Give your ponytail a makeover with these colorful snag-free elastics. (Mine is a wine/red color).

Overall I love the box. The essie polish is amazing and I can't wait to use it. I was a little sad to see that I didn't get the tarte lip stain, but the sugar rose lip treatment is nice. I've never had a box that I didn't love. There's always something in a box that I can use or someone else I know can use.

China Glaze Capital Colours: Riveting

While in Ulta the other day I picked up two colors in the Hunger Games collection. Riveting is a sparkly orange polish that looks like foil after it has dried. I love it!

The other color I picked up was Smoke And Ashes. I will post a separate review for it when I use it. It's a pretty black with blue and green sparkles. I believe this polish represents the coal mines in district 12. I'm pretty sure Riveting is inspired by Katniss.

Updated! Review: Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio

I am reviewing two Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio palettes. One palette has a dark silver, sparkly black and a dark fuchsia pink. It's called Spoiled Brat. I wouldn't wear this everyday, it's a pretty bold set of colors. I would wear it for an evening out or a special event.

The other palette is neutral shades. It has a light tan, dark brown and a medium tan color. It's called walking on eggshells. This palette is one that I would wear everyday. The colors have a slight shimmer to them.

Favorites: Shampoo and Face Cleanser

Just wanted to share this quick post with y'all. My favorite shampoo and face cleanser.

My favorite shampoo is by organix. It's the coconut milk shampoo. I love the smell of coconut and this makes the whole bathroom smell good when I'm washing my hair.

My favorite face cleanser is by Aveeno. It's their positively radiant skin brightener. I am really enjoying using it. It makes my face feel so soft and I'm noticing that the slight redness I have in my face is not that noticeable.

My Perfume Collection

I haven't always been a big fan of perfume. Some brands give me instant migraines. Up until the past year I've avoided all perfumes because of the migraines. I have found a few brands/scents that I love.

I have four mini bottles: Juicy Couture: Couture Couture, Paris Hilton: Heiress (?), Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears: Curious.

I have two full size perfumes. One is Katy Perry: Purr, the other is Jessica Simpson: I Fancy You. I also own a gift set of ex'cla-ma'tion, a brand I enjoyed in junior/high school. The last perfume I own is an impression of Sarah Jessica Parker: NYC.

Ulta Haul!

Today I stopped by Ulta to redeem a reward gift certificate. I reached level two on their rewards program and from the list of items available, I chose Nicole by OPI red texture. While there I also picked up two NYX products, the jumbo eye pencil in milk and a mood lipgloss.

Tonight I stopped by a BBW store in a local mall and picked up a few lotions, shimmer mists and pocketbacs. I also recorded a video and uploaded it to YouTube. I have iMovie on my iPhone so I can edit videos and send them directly to YouTube from the app. Don't be surprised if you see more videos in the future. Teen Vogue Birchbox!

I got an email yesterday from Birchbox asking if I wanted to receive a Teen Vogue Birchbox instead of my regular March box. I clicked yes. I'm far from being a teenager, but I believe this box contains Essie nail polish. I don't know for sure, but when this box comes I will record an "unboxing" video so y'all can see what's in it.

What's In My Purse?

I love the "What's In My Purse?" posts and videos. It's always so fun to see what other women carry in their bags. My bag is a Nine West purse and it's very roomy. The interior lining is a stripe pattern. It has a front flap that has lots of room in it. I usually stick my phone in the front pocket, but since I took the pictures with my phone you won't see it haha.

Salon Express Review

While shopping at Walmart this morning I came across the Salon Express. It is a cheaper version of the Konad nail stencil kit. I have seen Videos of the Konad and always thought it was neat. I didn't get to try the Salon Express until tonight and I must say it works!

In the pictures below you will see my ring fingernail looking smudged. That was my attempt at the zebra stripe. The thumbnails turned out awesome. You can see the flower and it isn't smeared.

My Nail Polish Collection: L.A. Colors

I received this set of seven nail polishes for Christmas and they are some of my favorites. I have been wearing the bright red color and it is starting to chip after a week, but I am hard on my nails. I type at work and it's expected for my nail polish to chip early.

My Nail Polish Collection: Ulta

I own three shades of Ulta nail polish. Ulta is one of my favorite stores. I could spend hours (and a LOT of money) in there. I ordered these polishes online Last year. Two came in a set (Tink Her Bell & Quake Nail) and the other was by itself (Chic Peek).

My Nail Polish Collection: China Glaze

China Glaze is one of my favorite brands of nail polish. It is easy to apply and long lasting. I only own 7 bottles. The colors I own are: Make An Entrance, Flip Flop Fantasy, Life Preserver, Naked, Exceptionally Gifted, For Audrey, Coconut Kiss.

When I have better organization of my nail polish I will go back and make new pictures and possibly a video. I am looking into getting two wall racks. If you know of affordable racks, please leave me a comment.

February Birchbox

I really enjoyed this month's Birchbox. I actually enjoy every Birchbox I get. There's always something in them that grabs my attention.

In my February Birchbox I received a pink beautyblender (makeup sponge), EYE ROCK (eyeliner stick-ons), Jouer (ultimate cream concealer), Choco Chocolatier (spicy maya ChocoPod) and a digital download card for an indie band, Green River Ordinance.

China Glaze - Capital Colours

While browsing the collections on China Glaze's official website I was very excited to see the new collection Capital Colours. The collection was inspired by the book The Hunger Games (which I just finished reading). I love these colors and hope to pick one or two of them up. What do you think?
